Corporate Overview
Air Toxics Ltd. is an analytical laboratory specializing in the analysis of air using a wide range of EPA, CARB, ASTM, and NIOSH methods. Our capabilities range from pptv analysis of ambient air to identifying organics in high level sources, and from routine analysis t o sophisticated special technical services. A continuing commitment to data integrity, investment in advanced instrumentation and technologies, and dedicated client service have made Air Toxics the premiere test facility for the analysis of air samples.

Air Toxics is a privately held California Limited Partnership formed in 1989 for the purpose of providing analytical services relating to the determination of toxic air pollutants. Air Toxics currently has 75 employees. The laboratory occupies 24,000 square feet of space in Folsom, California, with approximately 6,000 square feet of office space.

Investment in Media
In 1989, Air Toxics began with 24 canisters. Now, with over 3,800 canisters, we maintain one of the largest canister inventories of any laboratory in the United States (including network laboratories). Every year, we purchase hundreds of new canisters and flow controllers, and budget significant dollars in the maintenance of this inventory. With regulatory action levels being driven lower and lower, we know the importance of cleaning and certifying media to those levels. TO-15 cleaning criteria aren’t good enough.

Laboratory Capabilities and Capacity
At Air Toxics, laboratory success is evaluated against specific performance measures, one of which is on-time reporting. More than 44,000 air samples were analyzed at Air Toxics in 2006 Our efforts are focused on providing data that meets the highest quality standards, but also is provided to our clients within the promised time frame. To achieve this goal, Air Toxics has invested resources into expanding our capacity with state-of-the-art instrumentation, in-house developed technology and a workforce that is cross-trained between teams.

Certifications
Air Toxics was the first air laboratory to acquire NELAP certification. We maintain accreditations with those states that have an air laboratory program, which include New York, New Jersey, Florida, Louisiana, Arkansas and Utah. We are registered in the State of Pennsylvania. Our NELAP number with CA is 02110CA. We have been audited by AFCEE, the US Army Corp of Engineers and US Navy on a project-specific basis. These organizations don’t maintain certifying programs for specialty labs, such as air.

We are a woman-owned, small business under NAICS code 541380 and have obtained certifications from California and New York, under their specific diversified/disadvantaged business programs.

Experience
Air Toxics works with a wide variety of clients in both the government and private sectors. Public sector clients include the US EPA, as well as State and local agencies. We have extensive Department of Defense (DOD) experience, conducting numerous projects for prime contractors, as well as contracting directly with the Army Corps of Engineers, Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence (AFCEE) and the U.S. Navy. We also work with Department of Energy sites, including Los Alamos National, Savannah River, Lawrence Livermore and Sandia National Laboratories.

Technical Expertise
We continue to lead the technical front for our industry by assessing the pieces of the analytical puzzle and finding answers. Report findings are presented at conferences and in peer-reviewed papers (available via our website or a phone call). Air Toxics began operations as EPA was developing their series of air methods, the Toxic Organic (TO-) methods. We adopted them from the start and have continued to improve upon the groundwork, taken from our experience with real-world project samples. Air Toxics is a niche’ analytical provider in the sense that we only analyze vapor-phase samples, however, the vapor/air may come from many different sources. We actively support the following types of projects:

Environmental assessment/investigation Ambient air monitoring
Monitoring of remediation systems, e.g. SVE Indoor air quality/monitoring
Groundwater monitoring for natural attenuation, headspace Odor investigations
Landfill gas characterization, inventories Landfill gas quality
Emissions testing

Specialty analyses include:
Siloxanes - Characterizing the quality of digester or landfill gas for gas to energy projects.
NCASI – We perform several emission testing methods specifically for the paper and pulp industry.
Ethylene oxide – Developed in collaboration with EPA, the Ethylene Oxide Council (EOCC) and a consultant to measure concentrations in ambient air.
Highly Reactive VOCs via EPA TO-14A – Developed in response to Texas regulation regarding emissions from petrochemical companies.

In addition to our operational team of scientists, Air Toxics has an experienced research and development team with a wide breadth of experience. Our talented team reports directly to the Vice President/Technical Director, and includes a senior application scientist, electronics technician, 2 senior software programmers, senior GC/MS scientist, and a hardware design and build specialist.

Deliverables
Air Toxics continues to provide cutting-edge deliverables through our custom designed Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). This system provides you with consistent accuracy and flexibility. All reports are generated directly from the LIMS preventing common data entry errors.

Our proprietary tools allow us to provide Electronic Data Deliverables (EDD) in hundreds of industry and client specific formats. Examples include, but are not limited to, a variety of spreadsheet, XML, and database formats. Our ability to create original print quality, Level IV Electronic Comprehensive Validation Packages (eCVP), reduces the effort required for data review and validation.

Further enhancing our focus on data quality, Air Toxics designed and developed a data validation application modeled upon the EPA Functional Guidelines for Data Validation. 100% of the raw data is reviewed for accuracy and completeness before delivery.

These deliverables may be downloaded from our client web portal, emailed to you, or delivered on a CD-ROM.

Let Air Toxics show you what we can do to make you successful!
